by Paula Anderson

Corner to Corner is a nonprofit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee. The organization offers The Academy, a program for Black entrepreneurs.

According to the website, over 1K entrepreneurs have completed The Academy since 2016.

The Academy, powered by Corner to Corner, is a 10-week class held once a week according to the website.  There are step-by-step practical lessons covering ten modules for individuals with or without business experience or knowledge.

Guest speakers are brought in to share business experiences and give expert advice. The culmination of the training is a pitch contest with cash prizes worth $20K, according to the website.

Shana Berkeley serves as the executive director and has been providing leadership since 2022.

She first started as a volunteer for the organization, but then her outgoing personality allowed her to be a spokesperson for the organization and this further led to her recruiting prospective students.

“In finding success, it can be defined on your own terms. If you are sacrificing everything to build a business, then that may not be a healthy plan for success,” said Berkeley.  “We focus on authority and empathy and people.”
