Danielle McGee has been on the forefront of helping Black-owned businesses prosper and succeed. She planted roots in Nashville, Tenn. and formed Black Business Boom, a resource for Black-owned businesses and Black-owned Nashville, an online website to advertise Black-owned businesses.
Black Business Boom focuses on helping Black business owners with social media, digital marketing and now funding opportunities and resources.
Boomin’ to the Bank is the latest initiative for businesses who need assistance with loan and capital readiness.
“It focuses on financial management, business growth and deployment of capital,” said McGee.
Since the inception, over 100 businesses have gone through the program. Participants learn about credit scores, and how to become loan ready according to McGee.
According to the website, “Boomin’ to the Bank is designed to equip small business owners with financial management skills and resources they need to overcome financial barriers, secure funding and build a thriving business.”
During the Covid pandemic, many business owners had to rethink ‘doing business.’ Funding opportunities were available to business owners under the Paycheck Payroll Plan (PPP).
Post-pandemic businesses still need resources and assistance.
“We have worked with start-up and early-stage businesses to six months of QuickBooks ® and bookkeeping services,” stated McGee. “This program focuses on businesses who are ready to act.”
Eligible businesses must have 20K in revenue and have the mindset to move forward 'without an extra push' stated McGee.
The program has been available to businesses in Memphis, Nashville, Indianapolis, Detroit, Columbus, Charleston, Minneapolis and Atlanta.
McGee is an alumna of the Academy powered by Corner to Corner. Black Business Boom was born at the Academy.
