Small Business Spotlight: Lameka Ivy

Lameka Ivy, owner and operator of Ivy Mediation and Consulting, LLC was featured in the 2017 inaugural edition of Memphis Small Business Quarterly (MSBQ). Her entrepreneurial journey started after working 19 years at the U.S. Postal Service. She operates a home-based business focusing on human resources and labor relations.

Ivy shared comments about her experiences as a result of the Covid pandemic.


Q: How did the pandemic impact your business model?


A: “I was truly blessed during the pandemic. I had to make a few minor adjustments, but it worked out for the best for my business.”


Q: What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur?


A: “As an entrepreneur, it is sometimes challenging to be taken serious by potential clients. It is also a challenge dealing with client's who don't want to pay the rate for the services that they are requesting. I have to eat too!”


Q: What educational resources have you used to grow your business?


A: “I am always looking for resources to grow. So, I have been involved in multiple programs that have helped my business excel."


Q: How can your business grow?


A: "It can grow by having guaranteed contracts with multiple clients, by having a great marketing strategy, and having the right people on my team.”
