Greg Westbrook said, “Black Owned businesses don’t get the shine that they deserve. Our organization wants to change that. From hosting our events to providing learning materials and workshops, we want to see Black Owned businesses thrive. Our hope is that we serve as a springboard to bring more awareness to Black Owned businesses around the world and celebrate the gems of our own communities. We plan to provide annual scholarships for participating business owners to upgrade their products or services.”

The event coincides with Juneteenth (June 19). The official day that slavery ended for African Americans after the passing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865.

“We're excited to be able to celebrate Juneteenth in Memphis. This event will be an amazing time to bring your family and friends to commemorate this day and celebrate our culture,” said Westbrook.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, masking, social distancing and sanitizing will take place to ensure safety.

The event is free and open to the public.
