For 25 years, Curtis Givens, Jr. has been providing an entertainment outlet for urban and black professionals in Memphis. Givens is the owner and operator of LOVE, a social and entertainment venue, and the founder of the Can I Live Celebrity Weekend.
Although COVID-19 impacted many restaurants and entertainment facilities in 2020, it did not impact Givens financial success. However, it gave him an opportunity to prepare for a new phase. With safety and health guidelines, the entertainment entrepreneur has made some changes to this year's events.
The 20th annual Can I l Live Celebrity Weekend has a line-up of activities starting Friday, July 16- Sat. July 18.
Friday, July 16 - Power 30 - a black tie event highlighting some of Memphis’ thriving business, government and community leaders. A few of the honorees are Ashley Dean, Superintendent Joria Ray, Sue Purnell, Judge Yolanda Kight Brown and Tennessee State Representative London Lamar.
Saturday, July 17 - All White Affair - an outdoor event on Mud Island in a safe environment with food, adult beverages, networking and dancing.
Sunday, July 18 - Sunday Brunch hosted by Duckie Confetti at Dixon Gallery and Gardens.
