Despite damages caused by tornadoes earlier this year and now navigating COVID-19, the city of Nashville continues to thrive and remains a place of opportunity for entrepreneurs.

This inaugural edition Emerging and Enterprising Entrepreneurs - Nashville features entrepreneurs, Ashley Shelley, Kevin Harris, Cherry Hunt and Ken Thomas.

With industries ranging from healthcare to security, these four businesses contribute to Nashville’s local economy and community by providing professional services and quality products.

Black-owned businesses are often underinvested and underrepresented. According to a recent analysis “economic differences” continue to exist.

Business support and mentoring are important resources to have when starting and growing a business, and even more important during a crisis.

This edition also highlights several local organizations that offer resources for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Services include but are not limited to:

  • Funding

  • Disaster Recovery

  • Business Development

  • Government Contracting

Empowering African-American business owners is vital as many are facing financial losses and future uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paula Anderson, publisher said, “The goal is to continue highlighting underrepresented entrepreneurs in Tennessee. Black-owned businesses represent a small percentage of entrepreneurs, and it is important to showcase them especially during COVID-19.”
